The finishing room

No boat so no sailing on Saturday for me. I helped in the finishing room, and watched a good size fleet sail windward/leeward courses.

Sunday was a bit more exciting as I sailed form Woolahra with Nick Dally on his 49er. We sailed in ‘Cock of the harbour’ race against other 49ers, an 18, Phil and Marty in Moths and a bunch of others…

We didn’t do as well as last year when Scott and I won the event also on a 49er, but it was fun none the less. Probably too much at times, as we lost one of the caps heading to the bottom mark in 3rd place.

Not really surprising either as somebody fed the spinnaker sheet through the ring holding the cap pin in the side stay fitting. As you sheet on, the pin gets pulled out and you loose your wire.  Quite stupid really, but I didn’t rig the kite… J
It was all good fun, I’m glad Nick offered me a ride I still love the 49ers. I wish they build a carbon one though, now that would be something!
