Keeping busy

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

We’ve been quite busy at ST George… I have been designing foils, Fitting out masts and Booms while Dave has his Moth building project well underway.

Some of you might have heard that he currently has the Alpha/Gilmour mould and he has already popped out 2 shells.

One weighing 4.6kg while the latest one came out at just 4.2kg. They are both wet laid epoxy/200g carbon over 5mm foam core. Laminated and bagged down in one go.

CST Composites has been developing new High Modulus wing tubes with us in 2 options. Elliptical front profile as used on Dave’s boats and smaller diameter round tubes with elliptical compression struts as will be used on my boat.

Here is a few photos I took while at Dave’s place…

John Ilett is also progressing well with my hull and foil skins are also just about done. I think this boat will be quite special with few new ideas and lots of attention being made to small details, while being built by best commercial Moth builder around.

Fastacraft will also be launching a new website in the next month or so, developed by Oneos. It will include all the latest information on the company and it’s new ‘Zero’ design…
